This study explores the socio-economic backgrounds of athletes in individual and team sports, examining how factors such as family income, education, and social class influence their participation, training opportunities, and overall performance. By comparing athletes from both categories, the research highlights distinct disparities in access to resources, coaching, and support systems that shape the trajectory of their sports careers. The study reveals that individual sport athletes, often requiring a high level of personal investment, may face unique financial and social challenges, while team sport athletes benefit from a more collective support structure, but still encounter socio-economic hurdles. The findings underscore the importance of understanding these socio-economic factors in fostering equitable opportunities for athletes across different disciplines.
