ROLE OF DIGITAL LEARNING IN ENHANCING STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Abstract

This descriptive paper explains the role of digital learning in enhancing student engagement in higher education. Digital learning has become an important part of modern education because it provides flexible access to study material, online classes, recorded lectures, digital libraries, discussion platforms, and interactive learning tools. It helps students learn beyond the traditional classroom and supports active participation in academic activities. The paper discusses how digital learning improves student interest, participation, communication, self-learning, and academic performance. It also highlights some challenges, such as lack of internet access, poor digital skills, distraction, and reduced face-to-face interaction. The study concludes that digital learning can improve student engagement when it is used with proper planning, teacher support, and suitable digital resources.
