Abstract

This analytical paper examines the importance of academic writing in developing research skills among students in higher education. Academic writing is not only a method of presenting knowledge but also a process through which students learn critical thinking, logical argumentation, source evaluation, citation practices, and structured expression. The paper analyzes how academic writing supports research learning, improves intellectual discipline, and helps students engage with scholarly literature. It also discusses common challenges faced by students, such as poor referencing, lack of clarity, plagiarism, weak argument development, and limited reading habits. The paper concludes that academic writing plays a major role in strengthening research culture and improving the quality of higher education.
