Abstract

Student engagement is one of the most significant determinants of academic achievement and classroom effectiveness. In contemporary educational settings, teachers face the challenge of maintaining student interest while minimizing disruptive behavior that interferes with learning. Traditional teaching methods often fail to address the diverse needs, abilities, and learning preferences of students. As a result, educational institutions are increasingly adopting innovative pedagogical approaches that promote active participation, critical thinking, collaboration, and self-directed learning. This paper examines the role of learner-centered instruction, project-based learning, differentiated instruction, technology integration, collaborative learning, and social-emotional learning in enhancing student engagement and reducing classroom disruptions. The study highlights theoretical foundations, practical applications, benefits, and challenges associated with these approaches. Findings suggest that innovative pedagogical strategies create meaningful learning experiences, foster positive classroom environments, and contribute significantly to improved academic outcomes. The paper concludes with recommendations for educators, institutions, and policymakers to support the successful implementation of engagement-focused instructional practices.
